GoldcrestRPG
Sources and licenses
Updated September 19, 2026
GoldcrestRPG is an independent, 5E-compatible community campaign tool. This page identifies the licensed SRD material used by the site. It does not place all character options, campaign books, user submissions, or artwork under the SRD license.

Adaptations and additional credits
SRD material has been reorganized into database records, summarized, and adapted for character sheets, character creation, leveling, equipment, and automated checks. Goldcrest adds its own interface and campaign rules. Editions are identified where recorded; combining editions or changing a rule does not make it an official rule. The license’s disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability are in Section 5 of the linked legal code.
Character reference and transcription credits and equipment source notes preserve additional source and software-license information. The SRD material remains available under CC BY 4.0; this notice does not restrict the rights that license grants.
The starter bestiary uses SRD 5.1 combat rules with original Goldcrest loot and harvesting suggestions. Bestiary source and transcription credits identify the source version and adaptations.
Looking for Trouble practice adapts SRD 5.1 combat, equipment, selected cantrips and leveled spells, class features, reactions, concentration and creature statistics into a limited automated ruleset. Its tactical maps, enemy behavior, practice supplies, player-favored initiative ties and consequence-free outcomes are Goldcrest additions. Stage 3 adds original biome groupings, approximate solo threat estimates, map editing, practice supply chests and lock interactions, while adapting supported SRD 5.1 creature abilities. Later practice additions adapt SRD 5.1 cover, flight, falling, additional spells, Sneak Attack, Ki options and Lay on Hands. The bounded elevation grid, authored cover rays and solo targeting limits are Goldcrest adaptations. Black Bear and Boar adapters add mixed multiattack, ledge climbing, Charge and Relentless. Ledge traversal and straight-approach path planning are Goldcrest grid adaptations. Further SRD 5.1 adapters include Hobgoblin, Bugbear, Bandit Captain, Veteran, Giant Wasp and Giant Wolf Spider, with Parry, Martial Advantage and venom; Burning Hands, Lightning Bolt, False Life, Aid and Expeditious Retreat. Directional spell areas use cell centers, and Aid targets the solo player. Editable biome assignments, creature dialogue and movement playback are original Goldcrest features. Further low-CR adapters cover Ghoul and Ghast paralysis, Ghast stench, Gargoyle defenses, Mimic adhesive grapples and Cockatrice petrification. Ending practice on petrification, visibly starting Mimics in object form, resolving pending saves before free exploration and approximate control weights are Goldcrest adaptations. Additional SRD 5.1 spell adapters include Fireball, Knock, Thunderwave, Bane, Blindness/Deafness, Lesser Restoration, Protection from Poison, Protection from Energy, Mage Armor, Resistance, Chill Touch and Shocking Grasp. Grid-based fire spread and forced movement, self-only buffs, one-target Blindness/Deafness, automatic Bane target selection and next-save Resistance are practice adaptations. Knock affects the map’s mundane locks. Further adapters include Command, Entangle, Grease, Hellish Rebuke, Heroism, Hunter’s Mark and Sleep from SRD 5.1, plus Ray of Sickness from SRD 5.2.1. Four preset commands, automatic additional Command targets, ground areas snapped to previewed cells, enemy escape/wake choices, self-only Heroism and opt-in automatic reactions are bounded practice adaptations. The practice interface identifies supported actions and omitted mechanics.
Inventory consumables adapt SRD 5.1 healing potion dice, spell scroll casting checks and fixed DCs, and Wizard scroll copying. Copying uses the Goldcrest working-time clock and commits the scroll and gold at the start; its Arcana check resolves at completion. Scroll targeting and spell effects remain table-resolved.
Campaign material and uploads
Campaign text, imported character details, and uploaded maps, portraits, and item images have separate sources and rights. Upload only material you created or have permission to share here. A book purchase or a link to a publicly readable webpage does not itself grant permission to republish its contents. An SRD credit does not license illustrations from rulebooks or other websites.
The September 2026 revision replaces the earlier bundled non-SRD character options with original Goldcrest designs, including Inventor and Hexbreaker. Selected campaign-book passages and supplemental equipment also have original replacements. These designs are campaign playtest material. Familiar lineage and background names identify custom Goldcrest variants; they do not reproduce the corresponding published rules package. Existing custom entries, imports, and artwork still have separate sources and permission requirements; this revision is not a legal clearance opinion. Descriptive references to third-party services do not indicate sponsorship or official integration.
